I can’t believe there is only ONE week left until we close on our house. I couldn’t help but think when I left this morning that when I shut the door this time next week I won’t be going back in. That’s so crazy to me!
While we have to live in an apartment for a month or two while we wait to close on our new house, I am finally getting over the nerves of signing my life away and getting really excited to build a home together with Jon. He owns the house we are in now, and while I feel perfectly comfortable being there and have settled in and made it my place too, I am excited to be equal owners and be able to “nest” from scratch.
I’ve never decorated a house before! And this will be more of a home, a place for us to get married, have a family and grow old together. Only one more week and a new chapter begins…

I think I’m hitting that point in my life where decisions you have to make are based on NEEDING a crystal ball! At least to avoid any stressful situations.
For example, we just sold our house – in TWENTY DAYS! The average days on market in Baltimore is currently about 110 days. Now we’ve known for two weeks that we were moving forward with the sale, but now we just passed the one month mark and it’s starting to sink in.
Now, it would be freakin’ great right about now to have a crystal ball on hand! Originally, we were thinking of moving a little further south so that my work commute would not be so bad. But in thinking it over, I don’t really want to move away from Baltimore and our friends and family.
So, I really wish I just had a crystal ball to clear up a few things – if I did I would ask:

- Can you show me if I’m going to be stuck living in a hotel in one month (although someone else making the bed everyday doesn’t seem so bad!)?
- What area should we look to live in?
- Will I be staying at my current job for a long time?
- Will I always be working in DC?
- Some of the houses we are looking at aren’t in great school systems – can you tell me if a) the schools will be getting better in the next 5-6 years or b) if we will be making enough $ to send kids to private school?
- Can you show me what Jon and I will look like in 20 years (juuuust kiddding – it doesn’t hurt to ask
)
Now, if only a crystal ball would fall in to my lap!
This girl looks EXACTLY how I feel this week! I laughed when I saw this, partly because I know she’s having a blast and partly because she’s got no clue where (or how) she’s going to land! And that, my friends, is where I feel like I stand!

Things are wonderful in my life right now – hence the silly laughing part of the picture – but at the same instance they everything seems to be happening at an incredibly fast rate!
I’ll try to blog more – maybe that will keep my mind straight
I love the feeling of being proud of someone else, friends or family. I love that feeling of your chest swelling and a smile that nobody could take away from you. Today I am SO unbelievably proud of my little brother Ryan.
He is in England studying at Cambridge University and is a member of the prestigious crew team. They train over 40 hours a week, while attending classes.
All for what you might ask? The Battle of the Blues – Cambridge vs. Oxford – that has been happening for over 150 years.
The idea for a rowing race between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge came from two friends .
On 12 March 1829, Cambridge sent a challenge to Oxford and thus the tradition was born which has continued to the present day, where the loser of the previous year’s race challenges the opposition to a re-match.
The Modern Boat Race still runs along the same lines but has now become a major international sporting occasion drawing millions of viewers from around the world.
On Race Day up to 250,000 spectators crowd the banks of the Thames from Putney to Mortlake to witness the action.
Cambridge currently lead the series since 1829 by 79-74. Oxford won the 2008 Race.
And amazingly, my little brother will partake in this historic event TWICE in his lifetime. He once again made the Blue (main) boat!
I had promised him last year that if he made it again I would be there. So I am heading to London to watch him race over four miles on the most grueling course in the world.
The best is that over the next few weeks, news coverage on him picks up and I get to become prouder everyday.
What a great way to start the day!
