Mind Games?

So I was riding down the elevator at work today, and I just happened to glance at my feet in the reflection – I almost threw up!  GASP MY FEET ARE HIDEOUS!!!  Now this isn’t the first time I’ve noticed, obviously, but every once in awhile I get constant reminders like today.

Luckily, it’s not all my fault my feet are so hideous!  I lucked out in the genetic pool of ugly feet and have had to have three reconstructive foot surgeries.  I had bunions at the ripe old age of 5 that got so bad one doctor told me I had the foot of a “75 year old woman.”  Grrrrreat.  So my toes look a bit hagrad, I have had bone taken out, bone put in, ligaments removed, screws put in (they live in there) and three beautiful scars on each foot.  Let’s just say I was not born to be a shoe model!

But the thing is, when I look down at them, they look straight and normal as can be.  HOW IS THIS!?  How am I so completely oblivious to the horrors I put out into the world every day!?  Do you think maybe I’m so scarred from having all these surgeries that my mind has tricked me into believing they are normal so that I don’t hide them away forever?  Is this how somedays I look in the mirror and think ‘Whew baby! My arms are toned’ and somedays I look in the mirror and think the song J-E-L-L-O was written after them?

I think it’s mean!  I think my mind should just let me see them for what they are, accept and move on, so that I don’t have these horrible times of catching my reflection in the mirror and going WHAT!!!????

Maybe that’s what this lady is all about…

Old and young

P.S. I tried to take a picture like this (because again to ME my toes look just fine) and let me tell you when I saw the picture, you couldn’t even see their was a beautiful background because you were to busy trying to decipher what the heck was wrong with the things in the front!

Feet in the Sand

Boo mind games!

Actually I’ve seen this pic before, but had to refocus after seein’ the young women coz I didn’t see the older woman. Your toes look fine to me, maybe you should change doctors.
